Tobermory

The Islands Capital and until 1973 was the only recognised burgh on the Isle of Mull located in the Scottish Inner Hebrides. It is found nestling on the east coast of Mishnish, the most northerly part of the island and made famous through television series' and films alike. Its vibrant palette of colour and natural beauty combined with its prominent position on the waterfront makes it a must see destination on the Isle.

Tobermory distillery

Started in 1798 by John Sinclair, Tobermory Distillery was owned for a short time by the same company that owned Oban Distillery. Over the last 200 years it has spent many years closed, either through bankruptcy or refurbishment. Located close to the harbour in the picturesque town of Tobermory,  it is now  producing two very different whiskys . Tobermory,  is distilled from unpeated barley, very unusual for an island whisky, matured for a minimum of 10 years, and Ledaig, distilled from peated barley and cut from the spirit still at a lower alcohol content to retain the powerful peaty flavours. Tobermory now produces it’s own gin. It is refreshing and vibrant like the colours on the houses of Tobermory and unique in that it takes some new make spirit from the Tobermory Whisky stills to add to it’s character.
